ERNIE MELESKO June 29, 1942 - October 28, 2016 Surrounded by his family, Ernie Melesko passed away peacefully at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Ernie's memory will be cherished by Krystyne, his wife of 49 years, daughters Chantell (Leonard) and Tammy, his grandchildren Kaitlin and Rebecca, step grandchildren Phylis, Georgia, Annabelle and Lena, and grand-cat Tulip. He is also survived by his sisters Linda (George), Patricia (Jack) and brother Alex, mother-in-law Bernice, sister-in-law Donna (Wayne) and brother-in-law Ted, as well as many nieces and nephews. Raised in Red Lake, Ontario, Ernie enjoyed the outdoors, had a passion for golf and hockey, summers at Spruce Sands Trailer Resort and cycling around the neighborhood. He became a handyman over the years always ready to lend a helping hand, especially to his daughters. He was a positive, energetic person, always on the go and had kind words to say about others. In retirement Ernie and Krystyne enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, Arizona where he was often seen hiking, golfing and at the pool. A butcher by trade, Ernie spent most of his career as a Meat Department Manager with Safeway where he formed many lasting relationships. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched. A sincere thank you to the health care team at Grace Hospital who were loving and kind in his final days. A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Grace Hospital Foundation.
