FRED TULLY, SR. 1925 - 2016 With profound sadness, the family announces the passing of Fred Sr., on October 1, 2016, at the grand age of 91. Fred was born and raised in Marquette, where he found his love of farming and watching things grow. He joined the army on April 6, 1944, at the tender age of 18 and served overseas until 1946. Upon his return, he joined his Dad on the farm. In 1947, he married the love of his life and best friend, Betty Porteous. In 1949, Fred Jr. was born, followed in 1953 by Russell. Fred and Betty farmed in Marquette til 1962, when they moved to Winnipeg. Fred was employed at Eaton's until he retired in 1981. In his retirement years, he cut wood, planted many gardens and took his grandchildren on countless mini-bike and snowmobile rides. He loved the great outdoors. Fred and Betty enjoyed travelling to many spots in Manitoba, in Canada and the United States. Numerous trips to the various casinos were accompanied by their dear friends, Florence and Alvin and Connie and Gordon. Fred was predeceased by his loving wife, Betty, his son Fred Jr. and his grandson Clayton. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Harry (Irene), Gordon and sister Jean (Jack Archambault) and sister-in-law, Tina. Fred is survived by his son Russell (Marion) and daughter-in-law Maureen. He was Grandad to Garett (Elaine, Sierra, Wyatt), Elliott (Grace, Brooklyn, Eli), Brett (Ashley, Daniel, Greyson), Debbie (Karl, Paige, Kaden) and Jeffrey. Brother Wes, Floyd (Ella), sister-in-law Adeline, and many nieces and nephews. We will all have countless memories that we will treasure forever. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Although I did not know Fred Tully I heard many wonderful things about this man, who was called Granddad, from my niece, Elaine (who is married to Garett; Fred's grandson) She admired & had much respect for him also. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family in this time of sorrow. - Posted by: Darlene Baxter () on: Nov 07, 2016
