EMILIA (MILLIE) DEIBERT Millie died on November 12, 2016 at the age of 95, supported, cared for and loved by her family. She lived a very full and blessed life of perfect partnership with her husband Peter until his death in 1997. A large family of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and their extended families kept her busy attending weddings, baptisms, confirmations and many other special celebrations. Through her early retirement years she enjoyed the company of friends in the community with many recreational and social events at the Centennial Pool with other seniors. An avid traveller Millie and Peter had many adventures around the world, making trips an important part of their retirement. She moved into Amber Meadows Retirement Residence a few years after Peter's death and enjoyed a full life experience with new friends and visiting family. Wednesdays usually included a restaurant outing and site seeing tour, weekly sewing club produced many touques and other knitted items to be donated to Winnipeg Harvest for distribution to those in need of warm winter clothing. She was very productive often finishing several items each week. Prizes won at Pokono were a source of happiness. Her faith was strong and a comfort through her recent challenges. She was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church and over the last few years has been a regular worshipper at bi-weekly services held by Atlantic Garden City United Church at her Residence. She had a long career of singing in the Church choir and always enjoyed music at the services. Her faith held strong to the end as she often talked about dying and joining Peter in Heaven. Many thanks from the family to the doctors, nurses and care staff at Seven Oaks Hospital on the third floor Unit 3 for their kindness and compassion shown to Millie in her final days. A Memorial Service conducted by Pastor Don Engel will take place at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 18 at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue. Donations in Millie's name can be made to Atlantic-Garden City United Church, 725 Atlantic Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2W 0S6 or to the charity of your choice. I have many fond memories of Aunt Millie and Uncle Peter. Loved seeing them at family gatherings when I was young and hearing about their travels as I got older. Aunt Millie led a full active life. Rest in Peace Aunt Millie... - Posted by: Darlene Halvorsen (Niece...daughter of Ernest [Peter's brother] and Beatrice Deibert) on: Nov 16, 2016
