Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHILIP GARTH MCDIVITT 1963 - 2016 It is with deepest sorrow and heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Phil on November 12, 2016, at the age of 52. Left for his memory to live on in our hearts, wife Melody, son Chris, daughter Kayla (Paul), granddaughter, Felicity, dog, Jaxson along with sister, Merle (Ken), sisters-in-law, Beverley (Joe) and Diane (Bill), brother-in-law Bill (Lori), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Henry, mother Tena and brother Lyle. Phil was born on November 30, 1963 in Winnipeg. His family was his most valued treasure. He especially enjoyed spending time at the beach, taking a road trip, family vacations and the Christmas holiday season. As a dad he was involved in his children's sports by being a coach and mentor when they were growing up and in his later years he continued by coaching his granddaughter. He was her #1 fan when watching Felicity in all her activities which brought the biggest smile to his face. He was extremely proud of teaching her to ride her bike without training wheels at the age of four. Papa had a very special bond with Felicity and cherished every moment he had with her. He will be dearly remembered and missed by all who were fortunate to know him. Rest in peace our beloved husband, dad, papa and best friend. In compliance with Phil's wishes, a private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phil's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. I remember when I was younger, I was friends with Chris and having his Dad (Phil) would join us in street hockey, go to sports games, drive to floor hockey on Sundays. I remember how he used to turn up his classic rock music on the he enjoyed so much. He was a solid person, and would always say Hi when we would run into each other. Saddened to open up the paper read the passing of an old schoolmate. I was a classmate of Philip's and a friend in the elementary grades. Spent sometime on the Union Ave residence for playtime and Birthdays for Philip. You never forget the neighbourhood kids you grew up with and the fun times you had. Even though we lost contact many years ago, he was thought of often and his kindness was infectious.
