Left to lovingly remember Edythe are her brother, Kenneth Brown and his wife Betty Brown of Burlington, Ontario; nephews, Barry Brown (Diane), Ron Brown and Jeffrey Brown (Penny); niece Susan (nee Brown) Richardson (Haldon); great-nephews and nieces, Krista, Grant, Jenna, Brittany, Morgan, Mathew, Nicole, Laura and Jyssica; her great many friends and neighbours; as well as her Beta Sigma Phi Sorority sisters and colleagues. She was predeceased by her father Jack Brown; mother Mae Brown; brother Beverly Brown; sister-in-law Jean Brown; niece Kathy Brown and her nephew Blair Brown. On December 4, 1917 Edythe was born in Killarney, Manitoba. She graduated from Killarney Collegiate in 1936, then went on to Brandon Teacher's College where she received her teaching certificate. Edythe began a four-year career as a country school teacher but the big city beckoned. She decided to go back to school and complete a Business course. This led her to finding her passion and an illustrious career for over 50 years with Canadian News in Winnipeg. Edythe always enjoyed travel and took the opportunity to visit many countries and have many wonderful adventures. Upon her retirement at 75 years of age, Canadian News expressed their gratitude for her invaluable service by presenting her with an Around the World Trip for her and her oldest and best friend Irene. Edythe embarked upon the trip of a lifetime visiting Europe, Asia, Australia, the South Pacific and all points in between. As a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Edythe was active for over 70 years. She had a lifelong love of learning and enjoyed attending University courses and was an enthusiastic Texas Line Dancer well into her 90s. A kind and generous spirit, Edythe always remembered family and friends and their children and grandchildren on all special occasions, birthdays and holidays. She lived a full and independent life. She was always a special person in the hearts of all she touched and will be sadly missed. A celebration of Edythe's life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue, Winnipeg.
