ARON (ERNIE) KLASSEN It is with sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Ernie Klassen. Ernie was predeceased by his brothers Jake, Peter, John, Frank and Henry; and his sisters Margaret, Susan and Mary. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marge; his children Ellen Schwab (Tom), Greg (Lauralea), and Laurie (Kris); his grandchildren Ryan Schwab (Kiki), Kyle Schwab (Christine), Ainsley, Shanleigh and Lainey; great-grandchildren Parker and Baylie; brother Ted; and sister Tina. Ernie was a longtime employee with the Royal Bank, starting his career in Roland, Manitoba in 1953. His career took the family to eastern Canada in 1976 with stops in Hamilton, Sarnia, Montreal and Toronto before retiring in 1988. He returned to Manitoba, had a short career in real estate then returned to the Royal Bank to be part of a new venture called Grey Panthers. Golfing was a big part of Ernie's life and in retirement he played golf almost every day. He loved sports and was a fan of the Bombers, the Vikings and the Jets. More than anything, Ernie's greatest joy was his family. Whether it was watching his children or grandchildren play sports or just family gatherings, Dad would light up with joy. There is now an empty place at the table. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to donate to Siloam Mission or Mennonite Collegiate Institute, Gretna in Ernie's memory. "God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you and whispered, "Come with Me" THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 204-925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Just read it in my Pensioner book. So sorry to hear the news. Mr. Klassen hired me to start at Royal Bank Ptge & Westwood July 2, 1969. I moved from Morden to city. He thought country girls were friendly so I was very lucky. He helped me get a transfer to P la P in Nov/72 so I could get married. I did get to see him many years later at International Golf Tourn as he was actually living in Morden. Best Manager ever!! Sincere Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Sharon Ehnes (nee Titchkosky) (Friend & co-worker) on: Mar 22, 2017
