ALMA CLAIRE LAURIN March 3, 1925 - November 17, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our sister Alma at Actionmarguerite St. Vital (Foyer Valade) on November 17, 2016 at the age of 91 years. She leaves to mourn her memory her sister Maria; brother Emile and Juliette; her sister-in-law Marcelle; niece Charlotte and nephew Guy; her cousin Claire Jeanson; and nieces and nephews Evéline, Louise, Gérard, Edouard, Fernand and Lionel. She was predeceased by her parents, Agnès and Alexandre; brothers, Louis and Armand and sisters Lucille in infancy and Laurette. Alma was born in the family home in Dufresne, Manitoba. She started her teaching career at the young age of 17, on a permit, at Brokenhead, Manitoba. She taught for 15 years at schools in rural communities and at Central School in Transcona and Ashland School in Winnipeg. She changed careers and worked for 28 years in the purchasing department at St. Boniface General Hospital until her retirement. Alma was a devout Catholic, had a gentle soul and was a loving person. She volunteered at Foyer Valade and at numerous St. Emile Church activities including singing in the church choir. She enjoyed her many trips to Florida and travelling to other winter destinations. Her pastimes included reading, watching religious programs and playing Solitaire. The family is grateful for the devoted care Alma received from the personnel at Foyer Valade. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Emile Parish at 556 St. Anne's Road, Winnipeg.
