I first met Maureen when I started to work next door at the Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities (MLPD). The ILRC had a nice wheelchair accessible washroom which I preferred to the public one. Of course, once I was finished in the washroom I would wander through the ILRC to visit! I remember Maureen's bright, welcoming smile and deep, warm voice always making me feel welcome. My thoughts are with her family at this time, and I know that she's somewhere now, "laughing it up" with her coiusin Danny! - Posted by: Emily (Smith) Ternette (Colleague) on: Nov 23, 2016

I got to know Maureen (and Mike) through work at the ILRC. We were a well knit family that just happened to work well with each other. I'm sure many times Maureen wasn't sure how to take the crazy me but she was always accepting of me and many others. Maureen you will be missed, please say hello to Danny and share a drink. My thoughts to Mike and the boys. - Posted by: Terry McIntosh (previous co-worker) on: Nov 22, 2016

Maureen and I grew up across the street from each other on McNaughton Avenue. She was deeply freckled, red haired, blessed with a hearty laugh and a wonderful capacity for throwing a football fast, hard and accurately. She met Mike at United College where I remember him asking me if I knew who she was. They were both very kind to Judy and I not long after their marriage when they let us and our newborn stay in their home for a few days until we could move into our apartment. Good memories of a happy time. Our thoughts are with Mike and his family. - Posted by: John Kendle (Friend) on: Nov 19, 2016

My wife Audrey nee Saunders, was a Lifeguard with Maureen at Sargent park pool many years ago. that is where I met my wife. remember having to phone Maureen to get her phone number so I could ask Audrey out on a date. Mike was our quarterback with the St Vital bulldogs, again years ago. Mike and his brother were friends those many years back. my condolences to the Kachmar family, especially Mike. as we age our memories come to out thoughts more often. Remember the good times..Maureen was a fun loving gal with that reddish hair if memory serves me. Audrey and I both pray that she is once again in that place where we may all meet again one day. - Posted by: gordon mclauchlin (old acquaintance) on: Nov 19, 2016

I met Maureen while working at ILRC; I enjoyed working with her and we became friends. I'll always remember her as a very creative person as she expressed herself through art. My condolences go to Mike and the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve. - Posted by: Eleonore Kliewer (Friend ) on: Nov 19, 2016
