Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHERINE TOEWS August 20, 1940 - November 13, 2016 It is with sadness we announce that Katherine (Kathy) Toews, aged 76 years, passed away at the Grace Hospital ICU, on Sunday, November 13, 2016, with her husband, Bill, her daughter and son-in-law Tammy and Jason Trowbridge, grand-daughter Brittany Trowbridge and daughter-in-law Melissa Toews at her side. Kathy was born August 20, 1940, the oldest of nine. She grew up in the Lowe Farm area, west of Morris. From 1959 to 1962 she took her Registered Nurse's training at the Grace Hospital on Arlington Street in Winnipeg. Kathy and Bill were married on May 26, 1963. They celebrated their 53rd anniversary in May of this year. They enjoyed working together for God's kingdom with Child Evangelism Fellowship for many years, plus fellowshipping at the Maranatha Church for 39 years. Kathy loved teaching children about God's love. She loved her family, traveling, reading, palm trees, flowers, Chinese food, politics, and her nursing alumni friends. Kathy was diagnosed with stomach cancer in the spring of 2016 and suffered complications following surgery on October 20th. This was very difficult for her family. She leaves her sweetheart, Bill, one son, Kevin and Melissa Toews, one daughter, Tammy and Jason Trowbridge, five grandchildren, Alyssa (Toews) Harding, Corey Toews, and Kristian Kiesman, Miranda (Trowbridge) Durston and Brittany Trowbridge as well as one great-grandson, Dustin Harding. We'd like to thank the ICU staff at Winnipeg Grace Hospital for their compassion and care. Her beautiful smile will be missed. So, to Kathy we say, not "Goodbye" but "So long". You will be in our hearts forever. The memorial service for Kathy will be held on Saturday, November 26 at 10:30 a.m. in the Maranatha Evangelical Free Church on 910 Sturgeon Road in St James. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Manitoba, 179 Henderson Highway or to Maranatha Evangelical Free Church 910 Sturgeon Road. Hello Bill and family. I send my sincere condolences for the loss of Kathy. When we met again after all those years at Mom's funeral in May I was looking forward to getting together again soon. She was much too young for sure and missing her is going to happen for many. Thinking of you and your family - Posted by: Connie Guenter (Bills cousin, daughter of Katherine (Kay) Friesen) on: Nov 21, 2016

We are truly saddened, as she and Mr. Toews were a beautiful, loving couple and her love and warmth she has always had for our family. She has no more pain and is now in paradise. Antonio, Liz, Alessia and Julianna - Posted by: Rendina family (Neighbors) on: Nov 19, 2016
