ANDREW HUYGHE 1925 - 2016 Andrew Huyghe, 91, of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2016, with family at his side. Andrew is survived by son Robert (Janis) and daughter Maureen (Brian). He also leaves behind his three cherished granddaughters Samantha, Kelsey and Haley. Dad was born in the Municipality of Springfield to Julien and Helena Huyghe on May 31, 1925. He married the love of his life Corinne Hartwig on September 19, 1959 who preceded him in death after 53 years of marriage. He worked for CP Rail for over 35 years, in many capacities, eventually becoming a conductor. He was active in his church and involved in the Knights of Columbus. Dad had a passion for life and treasured the time he spent with family and friends. He loved to travel and looked forward to taking family trips from anywhere as close as Grand Beach to as far as Europe. Dad and Mom were snowbirds after retirement and spent winters in Arizona. Dad was an avid golfer although he came to love the game later in life. He had his regular foursomes through the years and was proud of the fact he had scored a hole in one. He also loved woodworking and took great pride in providing his granddaughters handmade rocking horses, as well as the many other projects he made for family and friends. Prayer service will be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1 at St. Alphonsus Church, 315 Munroe Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 2 at St. Alphonsus Church, 315 Munroe Ave., Winnipeg, MB, with Fr. Janusz Maron officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main St., West Saint Paul, MB. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of GA3 at the Health Sciences Centre for their compassion, care and support through a difficult time.
