HILDA MASSEY Peacefully on November 28, 2016 Hilda Dorothy Massey (nee Elcombe) passed away at Tudor House Personal Care Home in Selkirk, at the age of 103. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, parents Fred and Maggie Elcombe, three brothers, Arthur, Raymond, and John Elcombe, and daughter-in-law Louise Massey. Hilda is survived by stepsons Bruce (Vicky) and Ralph (Nia), grandchildren Lawrence Massey, Glenn Massey (Annette), Lisa Martin (Jason) and Shawna Pierce (Darcy), sisters Shirlee Hems and Iona Elmer (Cliff), great-grandchildren Ian, Cheryl, Keith, Ryan, Taylor, Alyssa, Hailey, Kiana and Kyle, great-great-grandchildren Trinity and Faith, and many nieces and nephews. Hilda was born November 14, 1913 in Regina, Saskatchewan. When she was eight years old the family moved to Winnipeg and settled in St. Vital where she lived until moving to Selkirk in 2005. In 1961 Hilda met and renewed an old friendship with Jack, they were married on July 12, 1962. Although she trained as a registered nurse, Hilda left that profession and worked for many years as a stenographer and bookkeeper. She enjoyed music, singing in various choirs, playing the piano, square and pattern dancing, traveling, and handicrafts. She leaves behind a legacy of knitting, weaving, crocheting, and needlework with her family. The family would like to thank the staff at Tudor House for the kind and understanding care they have given her over the last several years. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Desjardins Funeral Home, 357 Des Meurons St., Winnipeg with interment following at Thompson "In the Park" Cemetery, 1291 McGillvary Blvd., Winnipeg.
