IAN SCOTT MURCHISON On Monday, December 5, 2016, Ian Murchison passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 68 years. Ian is survived and held dear to her heart by his mother, Margaret Murchison, of Winnipeg. He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Melonie (Jonathan) of Calgary and Megan of Brandon; his brother Dale of Vancouver and sister Myra of Winnipeg. He is lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Garrett, Adrian, Alexa and Tyler. He will also be fondly treasured by numerous family members and friends. Ian was a lab technician for the Government of Canada for 36 years in Brandon, Manitoba before retiring in 2005. In retirement Ian moved back to Winnipeg, his hometown, and found joy in dog sitting for his granddogs, travelling, renovations and spending time with family. At Ian's request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. The family is holding a Celebration of Life, if you are interested in attending, please contact Dale at 604-716-0660. A special thank you to the doctors and staff at Victoria General Hospital for their compassion and support. If friends so desire donations may be made in Ian's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. I met Ian at the Brandon Research Centre back in 1981 and soon learned that Ian was the "go to guy" if you were ever looking to fix, renovate, or purchase new tires, TV's, or whatever. You name it and Ian was there with all the specs and info needed to make an informed decision. Along with his genuine willingness to just want to help, he had a great sense of humour and was very quick witted. A very nice person, who absolutely cherished his daughters. It was easy to see that he loved his family in the stories and comments he would make. He will be greatly missed. I extend my deepest and most sincere condolences to Melonie and Megan, and all the family members. - Posted by: Brenda (Colleage) on: Dec 14, 2016

My sincere condolences to all the family. I was extremely saddened to hear of Ian's passing. He had such a wonderful sense of humour, so quick and so witty! He was so generous in offering his help. He had been helping me refinish a badly stained coffee table, and I was just about ready to toss it, but he came back with more steel wool and teak oil, and with more resolve to work on it until it was right! And when I was diagnosed with cancer seven years ago he was quick to offer his support in practical ways; rides to medical appointments, etc. His thoughtfulness and humour will be sorely missed. - Posted by: Maggie Bowman (Friend) on: Dec 12, 2016

My condolences to Ian's family, especially his daughters. He was so proud of you, and his dedication to his family. He talked about you all. Family came first. He never complained about himself. He was a good friend to me for over 10 years. He would listen when I needed a shoulder, and give good advice. As well as suggestions when I wanted to do renovations. I will miss my friend.
