LEONARD REIMER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad and Grandpa, Leonard (Len) Reimer at the Victoria General Hospital on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the age of 89. Dad was born in Winnipeg on August 30, 1927. He was predeceased by his parents, Klass and Sarah (Dueck) Reimer, the love of his life his wife Marlene, daughter Roberta, sons Colin (Randy), Kevin and Mark, brothers Levi, Ed, Gordon, Earnest, Wilfred and Stan, twin sister Lenore Charney, and sisters Elma Haughey, Elisabeth and Mary Norma (Mitz) Toews. Dad will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered by his daughters Bonny (Ross) McCorriston, Kimberly Reimer and Wendy Restoule, daughter-in-law Agnes Gagne, along with grandchildren Tara Chammartin, Deanna (Tony) Dankowski, Zachary Reimer, Tiara Reimer, great-grandchildren Courtney, Jayden, Kahlia and Zahanna; Giselle (mother of Deanna) and Lisa (mother of Zachary and Tiara). He is also survived by brothers Bill (June) and Ken (Peggy), sisters Evelyn (John) Penner and Joan (Larry) Thiessen, along with brother-in-law Len Toews, sister-in-law Joan Reimer, and many nieces and nephews. Dad lived most of his life in Winnipeg and worked as a machinist, first with Pritchard Engineering, then was a co-founder of Dynamic Machine Corporation. He was a tireless, hard-working man. After he retired, Dad took up vegetable gardening and was never happier than when he could supply family and friends with fresh veggies. He was also an avid reader, especially those old paperback westerns. An excerpt from his grandson Zac's Facebook post says it all "Well, today we said goodbye to a man that was hardworking, loving (unless you got in the way of his nap), stubborn and inspirational as they come. Hope you enjoy watching the grass grow on that big lawn in the sky." The family wishes to give sincere thanks to Dr. Cavers and the staff at Victoria General Hospital for their care and compassion. Dad has requested that there be no funeral. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. We are very sorry to hear of Uncle Len's passing. He was a jovial guy with a quick wit, always a joke at the ready. A room always seemed to have more energy when he was in it. Our condolences to Len's family. He will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Dave Reimer (Nephew) on: Dec 12, 2016
