Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA (ABRAMS) MACDONALD With profound sadness, we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Anna MacDonald on the morning of December 10, 2016, following a brief stay at the Carman Memorial Hospital. Anna will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her sons Ken (Lori) of Winnipeg, Glen (Nancy) of Hillsboro, Texas; grandchildren Brittany and Nathan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Clarence, her parents and five siblings. Anna Abrams was born on the 25th of July, 1917 in the village of Hochstadt, once located near Altona in southern Manitoba. In addition to working on the family farm, Mom found gainful employment through a number of pursuits, most notably as a nanny, hotel kitchen cook and as both a switchboard operator and seamstress at the old King George Hospital in Winnipeg. Anna and Clarence were married in June of 1955 and together they raised their family while living in Grosse Isle, Manitoba for nearly 25 years. Mom spent the remaining 24 years of her life residing in Carman, first at the Fifth Avenue Apartments and finally in the Boyne Towers for the past 12 years. Mom was a gifted and creative person; in addition to her exceptional kitchen skills she enjoyed gardening, knitting, needlepoint, quilting and crochet work. She was witty, charming and blessed with an amazing memory which enabled her to recall endless childhood anecdotes with astonishing detail; she was a delight to spend time with and an incredible blessing to all who knew her. Anna was an unforgettably beautiful woman, both inside and out, a selfless soul who devoted her limitless capacity of love and generosity to the care and betterment of others throughout her life. Like so many others of her era she experienced personal tragedy and loss at an early age, yet faced life's trials and tribulations with optimism, dignity and perseverance so synonymous of a truly remarkable generation. Sadly, that same generous heart which had served her so well for 99 years stopped beating Saturday morning: a lifetime of dutiful service complete. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at the Carman Church of Christ. Memorial donations gratefully accepted by Palliative Care, Carman Memorial Hospital, Carman Manitoba, R0G 0J0. The MacDonald family wishes to kindly acknowledge the love and generosity of her family, especially nieces Ann, Jean, Verna, Ellen, her friends and the caregivers who brought our Mother richly deserved love and comfort in the final chapter of her life. We will miss you Mom! Doyle's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. www.doylesfuneralchapel.com
