MINNIE DZUMA It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving mother, and Baba Minnie Dzuma, on December 11, 2016 at Gimli Hospital, surrounded by her family at her side. Minnie was predeceased by her husband Tony Dzuma; son-in-law Terry Heinrichs and parents Bill and Pauline Tkach. She will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Linda Dzuma, Joan Pich (Lawrence), Donna Cook (Barry); granddaughters, Cheryl Pich (Kurt), Cindy Marynowski (Tom); great-granddaughters, Monika Stolle, Nevaeh and Aurora Marynowski; sister Alice Cherniak (Joey), and her cat Dora that she treasured. Minnie was born June 22, 1934 in Meleb, MB where she resided with her family in her early years. Minnie met the love of her life Tony and they were married on November 18, 1950. They lived on the family farm in Fraserwood before moving to Gimli in 1960, where Minnie stayed at home raising their daughters. Minnie had a real zest for life. She enjoyed cooking and was famous for her home made cabbage soup, bread, perogies and setting off the smoke alarm while frying bacon whenever the grandkids came for a visit. Minnie also enjoyed entering her family's names into any draw she could find in the community and took great gratitude in watching them win. But her all-time favorite was listening to Ukrainian music and attending every polka fest she could get her family to take her to so she could kick up her heels and dance the night away, as she did for her 80th birthday. Minnie was a very happy lady with a contagious laugh that would leave you smiling all night at family gatherings. She would always say "I'm tough" while giving a hug and squeezing your hand, and those who were lucky enough to shake her hand know exactly how tough she was. Minnie will always be remembered as a kind, supportive, loving lady who always put everyone's needs before her own. We are forever grateful to have had such a vibrant person in our lives. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Rhoma and the dedicated staff at Gimli Community Health Center for their excellent care and compassion. In lieu of flowers a donation in Minnie's name can be made to Gimli Humane Society. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, Gimli, MB with Father Harry Chuckry officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Basil's (Rosolowich) Cemetery. Vichnaya Pamyat Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfunealhome.com

Alex and I were neighbours of Minnie's for many years when we lived in Gimli. Through those years we got to know Minnie and her family of which she was so proud. It was a shock to hear of her passing and to know that such a busy and strong, caring person is no longer with us. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her especially her family. We send our heartfelt sympathy to you all. - Posted by: Alex and Stephanie Tretiak (Neighbours) on: Dec 20, 2016

I am sad to hear of the loss of your dear mother. My parents, Thorey and Stan, including myself thought the world of her. Minnie's love of life, kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. My condolences to your family. - Posted by: Rhonda Cherney (Friend) on: Dec 14, 2016
