ANTONIO DIAS 1938 - 2016 Antonio de Jesus Dias, 78, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Riverview Health Centre. Born in Antas, Penedono, Portugal to Belarmino and Teresa Dias, he lived his youth in Portugal but the rest of his life he lived in Winnipeg. Antonio was a retired pressure vessel welder for the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 555. After retirement he remained very active with his gardening, fishing, bike riding, traveling to his home country, Portugal, and wine making. Antonio is survived by his wife, Maria de Sao Jose Dias; daughters, Lucena (Todd) Scanlon, Paula (Doug) Wlasiuk, and Judy (Paul) Xavier; brothers, Alberto (Florinda) and Manuel (Lurdes) Dias; sisters, Ermelinda Cardoso, Candida (Antonio) Ferreira, Cilda (Jose) Ferreira; six loving grandchildren, Cassandra, Maxwell, Jake, Deena, Katia, and Mason; several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Antonio was a loving father, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend to all. A special thank you to Andre, his palliative home nurse, and the nursing staff at Riverview Health Care Clinic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Antonio's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. Prayers will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street N, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
