CYNTHIA CATHERINE LEWIS 1937 - 2016 Cynthia Catherine Lewis (nee Warren) passed away quietly on December 17, 2016, at the Misericordia Health Centre, at the age of 79 years. Cynthia was predeceased by her parents Oliver (1949) and Eleanor (2003), husband Frank (1994), and sisters Phoebe (2015) and Diana (1991). She leaves to mourn her daughters Bridget, Mavis (Randy Webber) and Yvonne (Val Ballantyne); her grandchildren Quinn (Julia Lawler) and Nigel Webber, Tamara and Lauren Lewis-James, Arielle (Kevin Manrique); great-grandchildren Christian and Stefan; her long-time partner Lock Gray, and her sister Penny Speiran. Cynthia was born in Shoal Lake, MB on July 26, 1937 and she grew up on the family farm outside of Birtle. Cynthia completed her nursing diploma from the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1959 and shortly after, with her friend Betty, went to Kelsey, MB to work at the nurses' station. It was Kelsey where she met her future husband Frank and they began their journey together living in Winnipeg, Lac du Bonnet and back to Winnipeg where she remained for the rest of her life. Despite having three young daughters, Cynthia's nursing career flourished as she loved her chosen career, which culminated at Seven Oaks General Hospital working in day surgery where others affectionately referred to her as "Sergeant". Cynthia had a joie de vivre like no other! She was a competitive bridge and scrabble player, loved serving meals to her myriad of friends and family, and was generous to a fault. A warm thank you to the Cornish 6 staff for taking such good care of Cynthia for the past 11 months; it is greatly appreciated. Cynthia's family invites you to join them in a celebration of her life at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Wednesday, December 28, at 2:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, charitable donations to the Birdtail Country Museum, P.O. Box 508, Birtle, MB R0M 0C0 would be appreciated by the family (an envelope in which to deposit your cheque will be available at the funeral home).
