RICHARD WILLIAM (DICK) TODD January 29, 1937 - December 17, 2016 With family at his side, Dick left our world to join family and friends gone before him. Left to remember him is his wife Anneliese; children Sabine (Jeff), and Jason (Nicole); grandchildren Leah, Reid, Lauren, and Cade; his dog Schatzie; and many friends from work and sport. Dick was fiercely passionate about his family and their athletic pursuits with his presence and involvement. He loved creating memories at their cottage in La Riviere for close to 40 years. With Anneliese, they enjoyed cross-country and alpine skiing, skating, cycling and hiking in the Pembina Valley. They enjoyed ski trips to Colorado and Idaho with friends and trips back to Anneliese's Austria. He enjoyed his involvement with the Passion Play production in La Riviere both behind the scenes and on set. Dick was a champion of sport as an athlete, coach, mentor, scout and builder. He had an impressive hockey career in both Canada and Europe. Dick spent many summers sharing his passion and knowledge of hockey with many aspiring athletes. He gave back to sport organizations such as: the La Riviere Ski Club, Manitoba; Alpine Ski Division, Manitoba; Sports Federation, Canada; Sports Federation, Manitoba; Amateur Sports Association; Swiss team representative World Juniors, Manitoba; Municipal Recreation Directors Association; and the Winnipeg Recreation Directors Association Dick was an easy going soul with a great sense of humour. He demonstrated genuine warmth and caring to all that crossed his path. Many thanks to the staff at Meadowood Manor for their care and compassion. As per his wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer's research can be made to the Manitoba Alzheimer Association in his name.
