ROBERT ERIC WILLIAM MATTHES December 22, 1948 - December 17, 2016 Bob Matthes passed away embraced by the love of his family: his wife Sidney and his children Christie, David, Elizabeth and Daniel. Bob has been an inspirational example of courage, strength and determination throughout his life, especially over the past year in his valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 48 years, Sidney (Bell), his children: daughter Christie, Dean, Eric and Amber Schinkel; son David, Brandy, Gage and Emerson; daughter Elizabeth, Mark, Victoria, Evelyn, Stephanie and soon to be born granddaughter Gojkovic; son Daniel (Nari). Bob is also survived and much loved by his brother Phil (Val) and their family, the extensive Bell family including his mother-in-law Evelyn Bell, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins on the Matthes side of our family and many beloved friends. Over his many years as a CA, Financial Consultant and Business Advisor Bob made lasting friendships with many of his clients. Bob had a strong connection with Grace Lutheran Church and served in many leadership roles over the years. A private family memorial will take place at a later date. In recent months Bob became passionate about requesting that people donate blood. He was eternally grateful for every drop he received. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to CancerCare Manitoba. We are so thankful to the wonderful staff who took such good care of us during Bob's illness. Bob was financial representative for over 30 years to myself and my family. He will be greatly missed for his knowledge, willingness to help wherever possible and his all around gentle nature. I am very sad to read of Bob's passing. I knew Bob from early on, from our days together at Kent Road elementary school and right on through high school. I will always remember him as a kind and thoughtful individual, never cruel or mean. He was a good friend to all. My deepest condolences to Sid, the children and grandchildren.
