Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySISTER AUGUSTINA WINTER 1919 2016 With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Sister Augustina (Tina) Winter at St. Boniface Hospital on December 23, 2016, on the feast of our beloved founder, St. Marguerite d'Youville. She leaves to mourn her religious community, The Grey Nuns; her sister Phyllis; her brother John; sister-in-law Norma and many nephews, nieces and friends. At an early age she completed Primary and Junior High in a public school near Estevan, Saskatchewan. It was only after her admission to the Grey Nuns that she successfully completed High School and Practical Nursing Course. Tina was a very capable and conscientious worker, a person of wisdom, interested and devoted to the people around her especially: the marginalized, the poor and her sister companions. Her success in the varied missions where she worked serve as a living testimony. During the first twenty years after her religious profession, Sister Tina was assigned to boarding schools where she worked mainly with girls of all ages. Those children in St. Norbert, Manitoba; St. Michael's, North Dakota; Fort Francis, Ontario and Lebret, Saskatchewan were certainly blessed to have her as a mentor. In 1963, Sister Tina started her second career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, ministering to the sick at Taché Centre and St. Boniface Hospital, bringing them comfort and joy through her cheerfulness, her love of people and her sense of humour. Sister Tina was a woman of prayer with a great devotion to St. Marguerite d'Youville whom she strived to imitate in her everyday endeavours. She enjoyed gardening and the fresh vegetables were divided between the household, the Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank and a thick nutritious soup for the Holy Cross soup-kitchen. During all those years, Sister Tina touched our lives in many different ways. She was a true follower of St. Marguerite d'Youville and a faithful disciple of Jesus in her dedication to the poor and needy, bringing a ray of love and hope to all those she encountered. In the final months of her life, Sister Tina required and received exceptional care at Despins Residence and St. Boniface Hospital. The Grey Nuns and the family wish to sincerely thank Isabelle Marion, RN, at Despins, the doctors and staff at 4B St. Boniface Hospital and all those who prayed for and visited Sister Tina during her illness. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Isaïe Blanchette, o.m.i., at 151 Despins Street on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. preceded by prayers at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will be held and interment will take place Friday, January 6, 2017 in the St Boniface Cathedral Cemetery on Archibald Street. Rest in peace dear Sister and may God bless you and smile upon you until we meet again. Desjardins 204-233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca

I remember Sr. Winter from my many years at St.Boniface Hospital. First as a student and then as an R.N. She was always friendly and supportive. May she rest in peace. The Lord be with the family at this time especially. - Posted by: Myrna Malanik (friend) on: Jan 01, 2017
