HELEN MARGARET WIEBE Peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the Concordia Hospital, Mom went to be with Dad. Her life is remembered and celebrated by her children Brent (Romie), Margaret (Garnet), Naomi (John), Salome (Eric), Viola (Dave), and Orlando (Barb); grandchildren Raymond (Rosa), Amanda (David), and sibling Ed (Sarah). Predeceased by her loving husband Jake, parents John and Margaret Stoesz, and by her siblings John, Bill and Peter. Mom was a brilliant seamstress, a wonderful quilter, a great baker, a superb scrabble player, a dedicated choir member and the best Mom anywhere. She led a very full life, having lived through the Depression, graduated grade 9 with honours, then nursed her ailing mother for several years, and married in 1948. Then started a whole new life of adventure with her Jake. Their many moves throughout the prairie provinces and Manitoba's Interlake, included Mom 'holding down the fort' and blessing all those around her with her unfailing kindness and care. Thank you to the Concordia Hospital staff. Thank you to everyone at Bethel Place who loved and watched over our Mom. There will be a celebration of Mom's life on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford St. in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9. I raise my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121 Mom, your twinkly eyes and bright smile could light up any room. We'll all miss you. We have many great memories of both Jake and Helen from yesteryear, when we all lived in Selkirk, MB and the surrounding area. What good times we had with Helen and Jake! Also the many happy times we had with them at the Selkirk Christian Fellowship Church. Wonderful people, both Helen and Jake! The world has suffered a great loss and heaven has gained two beautiful souls. May they both rest in peace until we all meet again to sit at the feet of Jesus, in His own time. To the family: "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Rev. 21:4 - Posted by: John & Mary-Ann Neufeld (Friends) on: Jan 14, 2017

It has been an honour to know Helen and Jake, both overflowing with warmth, love and generosity, and their children some of whom we've met, and others who we know more by association, and especially our dear friend, Margaret and her husband Garnet. You are in our hearts and minds. - Posted by: Janet and Jim (Friends) on: Jan 01, 2017
