KATIE (KAYE) FLORENCE ATKINSON (nee MATTES) October 15, 1924 December 31, 2016 Peacefully at home, with her daughters at her side, Katie Atkinson passed away at the age of 92. Katie will be greatly missed by her daughters, Shirley Jestadt and Karen Atkinson; her granddaughters, Julia Jestadt (Jered) and Kate Jestadt-Hablin (David); her great-granddaughter Adeline; her special "daughter" Joanne Balcewich; her brother Jack Mattes and a large extended family. Katie was predeceased by her husband Clifford; her son-in-law Paul; her parents and siblings. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). In lieu of flowers and in memory of Katie, donations may be made to St. Boniface Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice. MOTHER You can only have one Mother, Patient, kind and true. No other friend in all the world, Would be so true to you. For all her loving kindness, She asked nothing in return. If all the world deserted us, To Mother we would turn.
