HEATHER LAUREEN KLASSEN (nee SMUTTELL) Peacefully, after a short and sudden illness, Heather passed away on January 1, 2017. She is survived by two loving sons, Brett and Tristan; father Allan (Sandra); brothers, Jeff (Laura) and Daryl (Michelle); step-brothers, Jeff (Melissa) and Kerry as well as her life partner Gerry. She is also survived by her father and mother-in law Dick and Joyce Friesen. She was predeceased by her mother Karen and husband Troy. Heather grew up in Selkirk, enjoying the company of her many friends. After graduation she moved first to Brandon and later to Carberry, where her and Troy welcomed two beautiful boys into their lives. After Troy's tragic death, the family moved to Kenora, allowing the boys to further their love of the outdoors and hone their mechanical talents under the guidance of Grandpa Dick. Heather enjoyed taking the boys on summer road trips, exposing them to many different locations, sites and museums left lasting memories and many learning experiences. When the boys played football, Heather was always their biggest fan. The boys could always hear her cheering loudly and ringing her distinct cowbell. While in Kenora, and more recently in Winnipeg, Heather worked with people with developmental disabilities; Heather's dynamic personality and unique abilities allowed her to thrive in this difficult and challenging environment. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald St. Winnipeg, Mb. R3B 2H8. • Though in our latter years our only contact was through Facebook, I have many fond memories of Heather. She, Andrea and I were Grandma Smuttell 's Three Musketeers as we were all the same age. We spent many fun weeks together in Brandon as well as at the cabin and the trailer. Heather had a very cheery disposition, loved to laugh with others, and my best memories are playing basketball on her driveway and Hide and Seek in her basement in Selkirk. I'm so sad for her sons who I know she loved and treasured dearly. My condolences to them, Uncle Allan and Sandra, Jeff, Daryl, and the rest of the family.
