HEIDI (ADELHEID) BROICH Heidi (Adelheid) Broich, wife of the late Philipp Broich, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2016, at the age of 93, at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Ursula (Richard), Gig (Dale), Moses and Greta and family, good friends Hanni and Dieter, nieces and nephews, Andrea and family, and many friends and acquaintances. Heidi was born in Gattenhofen, Germany where she met and married Philipp. They moved to Cologne where the girls were born and then to Winnipeg with dreams and the fulfillment of a better life. Mom loved the prairies and they never looked back. She went to night school to learn English and typing and worked at various jobs in the daytime. Her favourite position was working for Dr. Heinisch as his receptionist. After Philipp retired they bought a cottage on the Lee River and Mom pursued her passion for gardening. Mom's other great passion was the church. She was a devout Christian and faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Winnipeg, where she and Dad spent many hours working in the food pantry and organizing the Centennial Celebrations. When they moved to Pinawa they became very active in the Pinawa Lutheran Church. Heidi also had a great love for travelling, especially on trains. Mom and Dad enjoyed travel; they made many trips to Germany, as well as other vacations to Israel, Malta, Alaska, California, Arizona, and all over Canada. Mom always told her daughters, "Move away, so that I can come to visit you". Heidi will be remembered for her gentle nature and positive outlook on life. Her family and friends rarely heard her complain or utter a harsh word. May she rest in peace. We want to thank the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home staff for the great care and comfort they have given Mom. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, MB. A Memorial Service will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to can be made to the future Personal Care Home in Lac du Bonnet: Lac Du Bonnet Personal Care Home - Future Site, Box 1030, Lac Du Bonnet, MB R0E 1A0.
