NELLY EDEL (nee ROSNER) March 17, 1933 January 1, 2017 Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Nelly Edel (nee Rosner), 83, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre in Steinbach. Nelly was born March 17, 1933 in Strobow, Poland and shortly after, her and her family had to endure the horrors of the Second World War. Later, at the age of 18, in 1951, Nelly and her parents immigrated to Canada. She decided to go on her own by living and gaining employment in Winnipeg. Not long after, she met Walter Edel, who went to church with her aunt's family. After a year of courtship, they married on May 2, 1953, they moved to his farm and raised a family near Ridgeville, MB. They lived there for 45 years, then they retired to Grunthal, MB, in 1998. One of Nelly's greatest passions in life was gardening, which she was able to share with her husband Walter. Whether it was on their farm or the town plot in Grunthal, they planted countless vegetable plants, trees, fruit trees, shrubs and flowers over the years. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Walter of 63 years; three children, Amanda (Mario) Botincan, Vincent (Wanda) Edel, Madeline (Ahmed) Edel-Berbash; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four nieces and many cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Fredrich and Anna Rosner. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 W, Steinbach, MB, with the interment to follow at Southridge Cemetery, past Ridgeville, MB, on Hwy 218, drive 1.5 miles south, turn left onto Road 3 and proceed 1.25 miles to cemetery sign.
