JOHN BERT DUDYCH January 10, 1945 - December 30, 2016 John is survived by his wife Lynda of 49 years, his sons Mike (Colleen), Travis (Kathy) and Ryan, grandchildren Jesse, Riley, Tristan, and Jordyn, as well as his brother Al (Carol). He will be sadly missed by numerous family and friends. John grew up in River Heights. After marrying, he started work at the Post Office as a sorter in 1968 until his retirement as a postal carrier in 2000. During his married life, John enjoyed many road trips throughout the US and travelling to other countries. Over the years, John had a strong sense of extended family obligation that meant a lot to him. After moving to Gimli and taking up woodworking, John created many special projects especially for his grandchildren. Also, his love of cars brought him to "car heaven" - the Barrett Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, AZ. Fishing was his passion. He enjoyed going to Catherine Lake with his dear Post Office friends as well as to various fishing holes with his good friends from the Game and Fish Club. Many thanks to all the staff for their compassion, care, and kindness on 3 South at the Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Liver Foundation of Canada. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • First of all, my sympathies to the family. I saw John's obituary in the paper the day after his funeral (which was only mentioned on line.) I would have liked to attend, if it were possible, but I arrived from Toronto, the following day. I have been working on a family tree with my cousin, John Paul (Jack) in BC, for a few years. We are the grandchildren of Jacob and Mary Dudych, Jacob was the brother of your husband's/father's/grandfather's grandfather, John Dudych (married to Katherina Yanisiw). I wasn't sure if he was "on this tree", until I got word from Jo-Ann Anakotta, his first cousin. Apparently, there were four unrelated families of Dudyches who immigrated together, ... until my own grandparents married -- and then there were three. My grandmother, Mary, was a Dudych before marrying Jacob. Your side of the family is not as known to me as my grandmother's side. I would have liked to meet you. Perhaps some day, I might meet the younger generations. Meanwhile, know that you will all be in my prayers as you grieve John's loss, and my prayers will accompany his soul as he meets the Lord. - Posted by: Sr. Christine Dudych, ssmi (second cousin) on: Jan 09, 2017
