EDNA BERTHA MEILLEUR On Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Lion's Prairie Manor, Edna Bertha Meilleur, of St. Ambroise, MB, beloved wife of the late Henry Meilleur, passed away at the age of 92 years. Edna was born on March 26, 1924 daughter of Paul and Mary Lavallee at St. Ambroise where she was raised and received her education. She was employed as a home maker at Edwin and was employed at C.F.B. Southport as a canteen helper. She then moved to Winnipeg where she was employed at a sewing factory for several years. In 1945 she married Henry Thedde Meilleur. In 1950 they purchased a farm at St. Ambroise before moving to Portage in 1952. They then moved to Winnipeg where they stayed until 1964 when they returned to St. Ambroise. She then worked at many sewing jobs throughout Portage and St. Laurent. In 1979 she started her employment at McCain's where she was employed until her retirement in 1989. Edna was a member of St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church. Her interests included sewing, her garden and preserving the produce for her family. Edna was well known for her generosity. She made everyone feel welcome in her home and always prepared great meals to share with her friends and family. She enjoyed up keeping her home and yard. Over the years Henry and Edna enjoyed travelling and especially their trips to Las Vegas with her daughter Mary and son-in-law Andre Gobeil. After her husband passed she enjoyed travelling with her many friends and her cousin Theresa Lavallee. Edna is predeceased by her parents Paul and Mary Lavallee; her husband Henry Meilleur; daughter Mary Gobeil; brothers Jimmy, Ben, Harry and Gideon; sisters Rose, Betty and Delores. Edna is survived by her two sons Henry (Joanne) and Paul (Jackie) all of St. Ambroise; two daughters Anita (Leonard) Oliver of Lake Francis, Elizabeth (Edmund) Schon of St. Laurent; grandchildren Caroline (Jeyson), Suzanne (Jason), Terry (Kevin), Leslie (Richard), Christopher (Misty), Michelle (Miles), Jean-Guy and Paige; great- grandchildren Brittany, Brendan, Carson, Avery, Jennifer, Jamey and Jessica; great-great-grandchildren Liam and Aaliyah. Also surviving are brothers Amie, Edward (Olive) and Alfred (Stella); sisters Milly, Laura and Myrtle. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church, St. Ambroise with Father Gerald Langevin officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Ambroise Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial donations maybe made to Central Plains Cancer Care or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. She had a kind, sweet sense of humour and was very welcoming to all who would sit and visit her and Uncle even if they were busy working in the garden or canning.
