Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMERVYN DAVID PITTS It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mervyn on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the age of 85. Loving husband to Joan Noreen Pitts; wonderful father to Lorraine (John) Thistlethwaite, Carol (Paul) Provenza and grandchildren, David, Nico and Ryan. Born August 20, 1931 in Wembury, Devon, England, Mervyn attended Devonport Technical College before entering Devonport dockyard where he worked as machinist. In 1952, he met the love of his life Joan and four years later they married on September 4, 1956. Soon enough the family was completed with the arrival of daddy's little girls. In June 1970, the family moved to Winnipeg to reunite with Joan's brother George, now dearly departed; his wife Alex and their children, Gillian and David. Mervyn worked at Sterling Manwest where he developed many friendships and later at Bay Bronze. Dad retired in 1995 and spent many happy years with his wife Joanie at their home on Rizzuto Bay. He enjoyed gardening, playing darts and especially spending time with his family. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the following people who have taken such good care of Mervyn in the last few years as his health gradually declined. Thank you to "Home Care", our "Hospital Home Team" and the wonderful caring nurses and staff of N1 South Ward at Concordia Hospital who looked after dad and supported us during his last days. A celebration of Mervyn's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at All Saints Anglican Church, 175 Colony Street, Winnipeg, MB. (Parking is available at The Clinic and Great West Life lots across Broadway). Viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
