ZACHARY NICHOLAS ZYLA
Born: Jul 08, 1990
Date of Passing: Jan 13, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryZACHARY NICHOLAS ZYLA July 8, 1990 - January 13, 2017 With deep sorrow we, Daria Zyla and Kurt Munt, announce the passing of our son Zachary at the age of 26. He was born here in Winnipeg on a beautiful summer morning, a tiny treasure who we loved not wisely but too well. Zachary attended Montrose elementary school and Grant Park High School. He played a little baseball, a little football and even some rugby. He found his true sport in wrestling and competed in tournaments across the country winning numerous matches and medals. He was on the Manitoba team at the Western Canada Games the summer he turned 14. Later he enjoyed recreational boxing and weight training. Other favourite pastimes were chess and video games, fishing and golf. He loved seafood, sushi and anchovies on his pizza even as a kid and every birthday he had to have cherry cheesecake! Zachary got his 1st job when he still in elementary school as a child model for Superstore. He then worked at the neighbourhood McDonalds, several other restaurants, gas bars, a call centre, manually dug sump pits and worked in construction while attending school. He also worked with his father doing home renos and developed many practical skills. He graduated from the Asper School of Business at U of M with a B. Comm (Hons) degree in accounting and finance in January 2015 following which he obtained a position with the accounting firm MNP. In his final year, he scored in the 98th percentile on the global Bloomberg Financial Aptitude Test. In the short time he was given, he was too young to reach his full potential, or to become the person promised by his younger and truer self whom we remember with love, respect, and gratitude for being a part of our lives. There were so many moments of tenderness, so many hugs, so many nicknames, so many laughs, and such a zest for life. Zachary, we were blessed to have you in our lives and so wish we could have held on to you. Zachary is survived by his grandparents Marion and Donald Marshall, his uncle John Zyla and cousins Adam, Stephen and Allie of Winnipeg, his aunt Natalie (Blaine) Morien and cousins Michael and Christopher of Saskatoon; cousins Norma , Pamela and Michelle Zyla and their families and many cousins in Ukraine; uncle Ronald Jennings and cousin Tamara Lentz, cousins Alexis Jessiman, Ashley and Neal Snikeris, aunt Susan Munt and cousin Kurt all of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Nicholas and Tekla Zyla of Selkirk and his grandfather Harry Munt, uncle Walter Munt, and aunt Token Snikeris of Winnipeg. We extend our thanks and gratitude to all who gave him friendship, showed him kindness or gave him some moments of true happiness. Flowers are gratefully declined but you might consider doing an act of kindness for a less fortunate soul, in Zachary's name or lighting a candle in his memory. "Death comes as a thief in the night" Cremation has taken place and a funeral honouring Zachary's life will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.

So sorry for your families loss. I remember him when he was a little guy, having gone to Daria's house for a few legal matters. Such a sweet boy. Nothing is harder than losing a child. My heart goes out to you. Take care and be well. - Posted by: Bill Brandstrom (friend of the family) on: Aug 26, 2021

Zach was one of the finest young lads ever to take my class at Grant Park High School, his infectious smile and positive attitude made him extremely popular and well loved by his classmates. Zach's intellect and natural abilities made him popular with his teachers and coaches as well. Zach will be sadly missed by all pirates who have had the great pleasure of knowing him. - Posted by: Bryan Ledger (teacher) on: Jan 24, 2017

Dear Daria and Kurt, We are so, so sad to hear of the passing of your beautiful son Zach. Kelsey and I remember him very fondly as a sweet, active, energetic little guy who used to come over to play when we lived on Hector Bay. His personality was so charming and outgoing. I know there is nothing I can say to give you comfort in any way. But you both are in our hearts and thoughts, as is your dear boy. Our love to you both.
