JOHN S. BURGOYNE November 3, 1950 - January 20, 2017 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of John on January 20, 2017, surrounded by his family. Left to mourn are his wife Donna, daughter Shaenagh (Sean); son Tyler (Donnah) and his three beloved grandchildren Sophia, Austin and Liam. He is also survived by sisters Margaret Frobisher (Bob) and Mary Wilson (Wendee); brother Bob Burgoyne (Delanne); and brother-in-law, Bruce Alley (Pauline) and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by friends far and wide. John was predeceased by his parents, John and Margaret Burgoyne, his sister, Diane Hendin; and his father and mother-in law, Austin and Mary Alley. John was born and raised in St. Vital and after his retirement from Manitoba Hydro, he came back to his roots. He was always on the go and could be found reading a book, fishing from the pier, cooking up a new dish or traveling somewhere new. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family. The family would like to thank the Victoria General Hospital and Health Sciences Centre for their excellent care. In keeping with John's wishes, a private family celebration will take place. • My heartfelt condolences to Donna and family, I was saddened to learn of John's death via Facebook today. Although over the years I had seen John at social events with Donna, it was not until he retired from Manitoba Hydro (via Winnipeg Hydro) and joined Redpath Mining Company at AECL's Underground Research Lab, that I got to know him well. A man with strong work ethics, who brought thoughtful, sensible and safe solutions to the decommissioning of the underground electrical systems. A quiet modest man with years of valuable experience, just what the job required. Although the last to promote himself over others, he exuded strength of character. John was easy to like and trust and we all did. He was a great to work with and a pleasure to know. - Posted by: Peter Sargent (co-worker at AECL's Underground Research Laboratory) on: Jan 28, 2017
