OLGA ZALUBNIAK Olga Zalubniak, aged 100 years, died peacefully on January 30, 2017 at the Selkirk General Hospital. Olga will be lovingly remembered by her daughters and their families, Jeanne Mazur (Bill) and their children, Jeff (Michele), Brent and Blaine; Carole Bacon (Len) and their children, Daryl and Laurie. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Marissa (Dusty) and Aaron Bacon (Brandon) and Katrina Saseniuk (Mark) and five great-great-grandchildren, Rhyan, Avery, Emerson, Zachary and Bryce. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Tomiak, and many nieces and nephews. Olga was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1993, as well as her parents, brothers and sisters. Olga was born in Pleasant Home, Manitoba on November 17, 1916 and later moved to Winnipeg Beach. She moved to Selkirk in 1935 and worked at the Selkirk Mental Hospital for 2 years. In 1939, she married Walter Zalubniak and raised two daughters. She was employed at Monarch Overall for 5 years and at Robinson Store (RCA) for 25 years. Olga was an active member of Christ Church since 1939 and the Legion Auxiliary since 1953. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, knitting, and playing cards at the Lion's Centre where she resided since 1995. In her later years Mom made many dog blankets for the Winnipeg Humane Society. The funeral service will be held at the Christ Church Anglican, 227 McLean Avenue, Selkirk, Manitoba on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place and a private burial will be held at a later date. The family would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Zoppa and the staff at the Selkirk Hospital for the wonderful care they gave our mother and grandmother. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Christ Church Anglican, Selkirk, MB.
