Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLAUDETTE SUL (nee VAN DAELE) Peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2017, at the age of 73, Claudette passed away with family by her side. She is survived by her loving husband Mervin; son Gerry (Janet) and children Matthew, Lucas, Robin, son Darryl (Cheryl) and children Kaylee, Keira, Brayden, daughter Karen (Tim) Reimer and children Alyssa, Kaitlyn, son Cory (Melissa) and children Claudine, Ethan, Adeline. She also is survived by her brother Gil (Linda) Van Daele and predeceased by parents Gilbert and Therese, and sister Marilyn. Dear to her and surviving are mother-in-law Mary Sul, sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Levenia Scott, Don (Adrienne) Sul, Len (Diane) Sul. Claudette was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on April 7, 1943. After graduating from Glenlawn Collegiate, she met the love of her life, Mervin, at a nearby St. Vital bingo hall, who she married October 26, 1963. Claudette worked as a hairdresser with her mother, until caring for her four children became a full-time passion. In addition to her devotion to being a great wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she had many other passions such as fishing, cross-stitching, golfing, Winnipeg Jets, curling, card playing and the odd trip "up north" which we all knew was a casino. Mostly she loved to attend as many of the grandchildren's sporting events as she could, to show her support. The cottage at Pickerel Lake was a summer meeting place for family and grandchildren to gather and enjoy each other's company. It was here she satisfied her endless love for fishing, always in pursuit of the elusive Pickerel Lake walleye, logging each one in a book to brag to others. In winter months, it was off to Palm Springs with Mervin, where they enjoyed the warm climate, golf courses and casinos. To ease her time away from the grandchildren, photos of them were always brought along. She loved the Winnipeg Jets, and attended or watched on TV all the games faithfully. The return of the Jets brought tears to her eyes, and kept a smile on her face right up until her passing. Important also were the monthly meetings with the Hockey Moms and Macaulay Crescent neighbours. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to all those who have provided comfort and support, and to the medical staff at St. Boniface Hospital for making her short stay comfortable. We were blessed to have Rev. Fr. Mark Gnutel join us to prepare her for the next journey in her life. Pallbearers are Brayden Sul, Ethan Sul, Lucas Horn, Ashley Van Daele, Bryan Desautels, and Robert Desautels. Honorary pallbearers are Gramma's granddaughters, her little angels. In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with her love of the Jets, hockey and kids, donations may be made to the True North Youth Foundation in her memory or a charity of your choosing. A funeral service will be held February 4, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 35 Marcie St., Winnipeg, MB with Rev. Fr. Mark Gnutel as the officiating priest. A lunch reception will be held at the church and interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E at Navin Road, Winnipeg, MB (204) 222-3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com

We would like to offer our condolences at this sad and difficult time. We often sat with her during Brayden's hockey games and enjoyed hearing stories about their travels to Palm Springs. She was always wearing a smile and we know she will be missed by many. - Posted by: Barbara and Bill Miller () on: Feb 01, 2017

I was shocked and so saddened to hear that Claudette had passed away. I knew her for a little while, meeting her at our Tops Meeting. We were all waiting to hear from her, if we won money, as Claudette was the one buying Lotto tickets for our group. This news we were not excepting to hear. My sincerest condolences to the family.
