Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAUREEN RODNISKI December 17, 1942 - January 26, 2017 It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Maureen Rodniski (nee Fennell) at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. She is survived by her loving husband Gerald and sister Nancy Fennell, and was predeceased by her parents Robert John and Ella Fennell. Maureen grew up in Winnipeg's West End, graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and enrolled at the Manitoba Teachers College the same year. At a young age, Maureen was inspired by her Grade One Teacher to pursue a teaching career that lasted 38 years. She had her first class of pupils four months before her 20th birthday and was a devoted primary teacher for the first 10 years of her career. After having served as a Resource Teacher and Primary Supervisor, Maureen attained her Master of Education Degree and was appointed Early Childhood Consultant in the Winnipeg School Division. She became a specialist supporting new staff members in both programs and professional development. Maureen had a jovial, bubbly personality about her, with her usual quote being, "I am doing just lovely!" to anyone around her. She was a favourite aunt of her nephews David, Jason, and niece Jennifer Claydon. Maureen was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed movies, especially musicals, live theatre and concerts. Holiday celebrations and family gatherings were always looked forward to with great anticipation. She was always a support to a friend in need and was a firm believer that an individual creates his/her own happiness. Maureen was quite the traveller, from the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Vatican in Rome to the bullfight in Madrid and a tour of Buckingham Palace, Maureen did it all! Highlights included a Caribbean cruise to visiting Expo 1967 in Montreal and World's Fair in Vancouver in 1986. Pallbearers are David, Jason, Cody Claydon; Robert Grycko, Brian Huff, and Gordon Masters. A funeral service by Thomson Funeral Home will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017. "Eternal Rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her."
