ROBERT JACKSON (Bob "Moose" Jackson) It is with great sadness that the family of Bob "Moose" Jackson announces his passing at the age of 84 years. Bob passed away peacefully on January 31, 2017, surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Cory Jackson. Loving father of Sheila (John) and Joan (Kari). He was predeceased by his parents and his sister. Bob brightened everyone's day with one of his many, many jokes and life stories. "Moose" was an active and honourary member of the Music Professionals of Manitoba. He joined Local 190 of the AFM in 1957. He first became an Executive Board member in 1966 and then Vice-President in 1997 until the end of 2000; at which time he went back to being on the Executive Board. In 2013, he was given Executive Board Emeritus status. Bob knew from a young age that he wanted to be a musician. From the early days performing at Clear Lake to the many weddings, old-folks homes afternoon performances, to his final gigs at the Fort Garry Hotel, his love for music filled the lives of many. We wish to sincerely thank the doctors, O.T. and nursing staff at Grace Hospital for their patience and watchful eye over Bob while he was there. Cremation has taken place. According to Bob's wishes there will be no service. Over his lifetime, Bob made over 100 blood donations to the Manitoba Canadian Blood Services. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Manitoba Canadian Blood Services, The Grace Hospital Foundation or The Music Professionals of Manitoba, local 190 Room 201-180 Market Ave. East, Winnipeg MB R3B 0P7. I would like to extend my late condolences to Cory and family after learning (late) of Bob's passing. I have known Bob and Cory for 50 years having being raised in Winnipeg. Bob played guitar on my father's (Jose Poneira) T.V. show 'Pan Americana' in 1967 and they were lifelong friends. My Dad had a lot of respect for 'Moose' as a fellow musician and friend. In the 70's, I used to visit Jasper Park Lodge every summer and listen to my Dad and Bob play in the dining room. During the days, we would all hop on the 'Happy Bus' which would take us from the Lodge to the town and Bob would always shout out "Is everyone Happy!!!' Bob along Gordie and Dad played their last years together at the Fort Gary Hotel, playing in the Oval Room until my dad's passing in 2013. They also played together on the Mezzanine during Christmas time and my mother Gladys (passed in 2019) along with Cory, my wife and I would have dinner together and enjoy the music. It is a sad end to a great musical era that Winnipeg enjoyed. - Posted by: Rick Poneira (Family friend) on: Aug 02, 2021

I am Bob's first cousin. His father and my father were brothers. I can only remember the last time I saw him. He had come to see myself and a sister in Brandon hospital. Probably he was there to see his father, Parker, when he was sick before his death in 1955. I am sorry for your loss. Bob's mother, aunt Mary, used to talk of you and Bob so often. She was so proud of his musical times. May Bob rest in peace. The obit picture shows him looking so much like his father. May God be with you and the girls in your sorrow. Belle. - Posted by: Belle Jackson (Cousin) on: Mar 26, 2017

We are sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I played many gigs with Bob and was part of a trio where we played for an extended period of time in the Holiday Inn dinning room in the 70's. We send our sincere condolences to the Jackson Family. - Posted by: Guy LeBlanc () on: Mar 14, 2017

Bob was a truly incredible man. I first met him back in 2010 when I hired him as a musical duo for one of our events. I always admired his lovely nature, undeniable musical ability and charisma. We worked together probably a dozen times after and it was a total privilege of mine to have known him. Wishing his family peace during this difficult time. - Posted by: Nicole Rutherford (Worked with Bob) on: Feb 24, 2017

So sorry to hear about Bob's passing. Listen and talk to Bob at the Pemby for 21 years with George and Bill. Always a perfect gentleman, and just a super person. Our thoughts and prayers are with Cory and family. I remember when we used to go to the Fort Garry for the brunch on Sundays and Moose and Jose would be playing on the second floor and he would always look down and wave to us. He will be truly missed. - Posted by: grant humphreys (long time fan) on: Feb 13, 2017

I remember my dad (Bob McMullin) working with Bob and how much dad thought of him..so much in fact that when our son took up the bass, dad had Bob give Morgan some lessons. He loved going to those lessons. To this day, he is still "jammimg" with his buddies. Thank you Bob. - Posted by: patricia cooper (daughter of a friend of Bob's) on: Feb 06, 2017

Aunt Cory, Shelia, Joan, so very sorry for your loss, I have great memories of uncle Bob, laughing and joking, but the best memory will be when he was my escort for grad, we all had so much fun, and he will missed very much. I love you all very much. Love always Coni - Posted by: Coni Buchholz (Uncle) on: Feb 06, 2017

So sorry for your loss. Moose now joins his fellow musicians gone to play jazz for the big guy upstairs. Am sure Reznik, Jose, and our brother Gordie welcomed him to join their gig! We all enjoyed listening to Moose play his base. - Posted by: Judy Komosky (Friend) on: Feb 05, 2017

My condolences to all of you. My Dad, Moe Romanoff and my Mom, Shirley, both passed August 2015, just 4 days apart. Dad played many many times with Moose. I am saddened to hear of his passing. Prayers to all of you for healing and eventual acceptance. 2 years later, I am still struggling with the passing of my parents so I very much understand your pain. Sending all of you much love. - Posted by: Sharon Romanoff (My Dad played with Moose for many years. My dad's name Morris (Moe) Romanoff) on: Feb 04, 2017
