Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE PEARSON Peacefully on Sunday, January 22, 2017 Anne Pearson passed away at the age of 83 years, at the Arborg Hospital, after a short but courageous battle with Cancer. Anne was predeceased by her loving husband Donald Pearson, sister Rose Helgason, brothers-in-law Arthur Finnson and Gunnar Helgason, great-niece Jennalee Finnsson, great-nephew Ky Lamont, and nephew-in-law Glenn Jonasson. She is survived by her sisters Mary Horvath and Margaret Finnson, brothers Louis Horvath and Martin Horvath (Josie), niece Cathy Jonasson (Todd), great-niece Aleah Jonasson, stepdaughters Nancy Pearson (James) and Nicole Pearson (Kevin), step-granddaughter Sydney Pearson, nephews Doug Lamont (Naoko) and Glen Helgason, great-nephew Tem Terasaka, as well as extended family members and many close friends. Anne was born June 3, 1933 and was raised in Hnausa, Manitoba. Anne moved to Winnipeg as a young adult and worked in the hospitality industry for several years. In 1965, Anne became the third woman ever employed by Motor Coach Industries in Winnipeg, as an Acetylene Welder. She welded many Greyhound buses in her career such as Kenny Rogers, Crystal Gayle and Dolly Parton to name just a few. Anne even had the opportunity to meet Dolly Parton and board Dolly's Greyhound bus. After her retirement in 1997, Anne and her husband, Don moved to Kelowna, BC. Anne was an avid gardener, growing lush fruit trees, amazing flower gardens and fantastic vegetable gardens. We enjoyed her canning of peaches, plums, cherries, pears and pickling year round. Anne visited many places around the world, travelling from Alaska to New Mexico. As a post-retirement career, Anne and Don enjoyed purchasing properties from Manitoba to British Columbia, renovating and selling houses. Family and friends were most important to her and visiting family in Manitoba and friends back in Kelowna became an ongoing journey either by land or air. Anne returned to Manitoba in 2010, after Don's passing in 2007, to be closer to her family. She lived in Arborg until her passing. A heartfelt thank you to CancerCare, Dr. Donnelly, Dr. Akinpelu, all the staff at the Arborg and District Health Centre and the amazing, caring, loving staff at Assisted Living in Arborg for their exceptional care. In keeping with Anne's wishes, cremation has taken place. As per Anne's request, a "Celebration of Life" will be held in Kelowna in July 2017 and a small graveside service in August 2017 at the Geysir Cemetery, MB. Further notice to follow at a later date. If so desired, donations may be made to the Arborg and District Health Centre or the Arborg Personal Care Home, Box 10, Arborg, MB R0C 0A0.
