LINDA KOSHINSKY (ALEIDA (LEIKE) BERNARDA KOSHINSKY) (nee VRIEZEN) With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Linda Koshinsky who passed away peacefully on January 25, 2017. Born on June 19, 1924 in Silvolde, Netherlands, Leike immigrated to Canada in 1959 where she was given the Anglicized name "Linda". She met Gustave (Gus) Koshinsky in Winnipeg and they married in the spring of 1960. She was predeceased by her parents Antje Hengeveld and Gerrit Willem Vriezen, her brother Wim, sister Bertha, sister-in-law Willemien, brothers-in-law Henk Niejland and Gerhard Prinsen, as well as her husband Gus. Linda will be dearly missed by her children Gary and Margaret Koshinsky. She is survived by her brother Ben Vriezen, sister Hannie Prinsen, and sister-in-law Jo Vriezen in the Netherlands, as well as her sister-in-law Gladys Koschinsky and brother-in-law Herb Steinwandt of Winnipeg. She leaves behind her grandson Holden Baskerville and his daughters Jordan and Capri, many beloved nieces, nephews and their families, and a number of wonderful close friends. Growing up in the Netherlands, Linda witnessed many atrocities of war but it was the acts of generosity and kindness that resonated with her most. She was a pure expression of love, a devoted wife and mother, always sharing and caring for others. She baked the most amazing cakes imaginable and her home was a hub for friends and neighbors who she welcomed with her unique warmth and Dutch gezelligheid. She loved all music, playing the piano, dancing, and she loved to travel - especially to visit her family in the Netherlands. Choosing to never drive a car, she rode her bike everywhere - with a smile on her face and her pretty dresses blowing in the wind. To all who were graced by Linda's life, her beautiful kind heart will always make us smile. A service to honour her life will be held at Knox United Church, 400 Edmonton Street on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made in a form desired by friends - consider treating a friend to a fine pastry and share a story or two that makes you laugh.
