Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDANELDA CHERNIAK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Danelda on February 8, 2017 at St. Boniface Hospital. Remaining to cherish her memory are her children Brian, Eugene, Lyle and Sharon; grandsons Chris, Braydon and their mother Lori; brothers Ed, Richard and Leslie, their wives, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ed; daughter Charlene; parents Alice and Bill Hopko; and sister Marnie. Danelda was the eldest child and grew up in Pleasant Home area near Teulon. She attended Netley School and went to high school in Teulon, staying at the girl's residence. She grew up around a large, extended family of Hopko, Medwed and Drohomereski families. After high school she worked at Imperial Bank in Stonewall. In 1952 she met her husband Ed at Crabby Steve's and later that year they were married. After 40 years of farming in Winnipeg Beach area they moved to Selkirk. Mom was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Through the years she and Ed hosted many dinners for family, friends and always had coffee and cake for whoever stopped by. She loved travelling, watching nature and game shows on T.V., doing embroidery, listening to Ukrainian music, attending country shows, and spending time with her two grandsons. A funeral service will be held in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB, at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017, with private family interment. At Danelda's request, donations can be made to Holy Rosary Cemetery, Box 121, Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba, R0C 3G0. We are truly sorry to hear about the loss of you mother, grandmother and sister. When I was young, we spent a lot of time with Ed and Danelda and have many fond memories of them. Danelda always had food on for anyone that dropped by.
