ELIO TACCHI Peacefully, on February 26, 2017, Elio Tacchi passed away at the age of 97. Left to mourn his passing are his children Maria (Garry), Aldo (Johanna) and Rossana (Domenico), grandchildren Rita (Ryan), Peter (Kristi), Anthony, Michael (Meaghan), Suzanne (Geoff), Melanie (Mike), Tiffany (Jade); great-grandchildren Lilianna, Matteo, Octavia, Jackson, Andrew, Grace, Kayla and Riley; brothers Vincenzo, Eugenio, Nazzareno and families. Predeceased by his loving wife Giuseppina, parents Teresa and Alfonso, brother Giuseppe, sisters Ersilia, and Emilia. Elio was born in Gubbio, Perugia, Italy. He worked for 28 years for the CP Rail prior to enjoying an active retirement for the next 33 years. A patient, compassionate and generous family man. He had a great sense of humour right to the end. Elio had a fantastic work ethic. He enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, bocce, lawn bowling, wine making, checkers and briscola, singing and dancing. We can only hope that we have reciprocated the love to him that he has shown to all of us. He truly will be missed and will have a special place in our hearts. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Parish Church, 510 River Avenue. Condolences at 9:00 a.m. Public viewing will be held only on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Special thanks to 6AS-SBGH for the compassionate care Elio received. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. My sympathy to the family. I only saw him a few times as I was the assistant to a doctor that he saw at the clinic. When he would come in to see the doctor for his appointment, he was so well dressed that I took notice.
