I have such fond memories of Mr. Harrison as my music teacher at David Thompson School in the 50's. Our class put on HMS Pinafore...and unforgettable experience which I still have pictures of. A wonderful family man, musician, and teacher. He will certainly be missed by all who were lucky to know him. My sympathy to his family at this time. - Posted by: Carol Kirkhope (former student and friend) on: Mar 10, 2017

Mr. Harrison was not the kind of presence that one forgets. I remember as a student in the early '70's at Victory School that whenever Mr. Harrison visited our classroom/school we all enjoyed him! When he walked into a room, he came in with such dynamic energy. And he was always so nice to us little kids! I offer my deepest sympathies to the family of Mr. Harrison in their loss of such an amazing example and legacy that he leaves for all. God bless all of your in your sorrow. - Posted by: Debbie (Hrechuk) Wiggins (Student at Victory School) on: Mar 09, 2017

I am deeply saddened with the passing of this wonderful human being. My condolences to Marg and the entire family , as well as his many friends and colleagues . Glen took me on as a young choreographer(who was scared to death). First starting with the wonderful production of Iolanthe, and continuing for many years after that. He was a task master, but always valued my input and was most respectful. I believe it was his enthusiasm (and Marg's organization) that kept this great Gilbert and Sullivan organization going for many years. He shall be truly missed, even from afar. "He was the Captain of the Pinafore and a right good Captain too"! Love, Maura. - Posted by: Maura Bourdon (Friends) on: Mar 09, 2017

So sorry to hear of Glen's passing. I have many great memories of him from over the years. We first met back in the 40's while taking singing lessons from the same teacher while we were both in high school. Glenn took great delight in trying to make me laugh during the recitals our teacher held for her students in her home. He would stand behind the audience while I was singing at the front and would make funny faces and dance around all in an attempt to make me laugh. He was so fun. I am sure his sense of humour and love of life will be missed by many. Rest in peace my friend. Margaret Alto - Posted by: Margaret Alto (Long time friend) on: Mar 08, 2017

Important mentors seem to be few and far between . Mr. Harrison was not only a superb mentor but also a huge encouraging force in music as I recall back in the late 60's as a student in the Seven Oaks Division . To Mrs. Harrison and her Family I extend my sincerest sympathies at this difficult time . Your husband and father / grandfather had encouraged and predicted that many of us young students from the Garden City area would go on to explore music and eventually sing on Opera and Symphony stages in many countries...........he was right ! He was a gift to the youth and the larger community as a whole . May his memory be eternal . Ben Wasylyshen East St.Paul , Mb. - Posted by: Ben Wasylyshen (Grateful former student) on: Mar 07, 2017

On behalf of my mother, Dorothy and our entire family, we offer sincere condolences to the Harrison family. Personally, who in a school choir doesn't remember Glen bouncing through the door offering pearls of wisdom plus the bonus of a few laughs!? His contribution to the music scene in Winnipeg was enormous, often joined at the hip by his other half, Margaret. I have fond memories of Nancy kicking off her snow boots at the side door to take a piano lesson with my mom. It's been a long, rich history! Mom is unable to celebrate Glen's life in person on Saturday but will do so from River Park Gardens home. Time flies so quickly... - Posted by: Carla Lother (Friend) on: Mar 06, 2017

My heart grieves at this news. I am so honored and feel so blessed to have known Glen (and family). I will always remember his smile, sense of humor, kindness, that he expected nothing less than perfection, and his passion. At a time when music was my life, Glen was such an inspiration to me and I was so blessed to have had the opportunity to be in the midst of such an amazingly talented person of exceptional character and spirit. I was so lucky to be a part of the “Gilbert & Sullivan” family – always felt I was amongst angels – and I keep those memories dear in my heart. Such a loss to this world, but I guess God needed Glen in heaven to head up His choirs of angels. Sending love, prayers and my most heartfelt condolences to Margaret, Reid, Susan and family. May God give you comfort and strength to get through this difficult time, and may Glen’s soul rest in peace.
