Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOANNA HAYWARD May 24, 1945 - March 3, 2017 It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Joanna Maria Hayward (Ingimundson) on March 3, 2017 at the age of 71. Joanna passed away peacefully, with her children and extended family by her side. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2015 Mom fought hard to the very end living much longer than anticipated. She was strong willed and never gave up. Joanna will be deeply missed and forever in the hearts of her children Derek (Carrie), Ryan (Shannon), Graeme (Melissa), and Kara (Jeff), her grandchildren Ariana, Runa, Aiden, Abby, and Carson, her brother Bruce (Gail), her four nieces, as well as many family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Johann and Gudrun Ingimundson. Joanna was born in Winnipeg on May 24, 1945. She graduated from the Misericordia School of Nursing in 1966. She started her career at the Grace Hospital and later transitioned to Misericordia Hospital where she found her calling for emergency nursing. Joanna was a devoted mother who would do anything for her children. She was a mother to all, leaving her front door open to anyone and everyone at all times. She treasured being an Amma and took pride in her grandchildren. She also had a special place in her heart for animals, leaving behind her two cats Payton and Baby. She enjoyed doing crosswords, having a glass of wine on her deck or by the fireplace, and watching her favourite programs with her daughter. We would like to thank the entire staff at CancerCare Manitoba, especially Tamara, Shelly, Dr. Maksymiuk, Dr. Leylek, and Dr. Chowdhury, for the great care they provided to our beautiful mother. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 11 at the Church of St. Stephen and St. Bede at 99 Turner Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1 or at www.petrescueshelter.com NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

We didn't know Joanna well but were certainly aware of her love and caring for animals. We were the beneficiaries of a wonderful little black and white stray that we adopted from her and who was a loving family member for many years. Our condolences for your loss, you should have had many more years with Joanna. - Posted by: Gail & Bob Derby () on: Mar 11, 2017

My husband Dave called her Jo or "mom" and when he talked about Joanna with me, it was from a place of appreciation and love. He considers himself very fortunate to have a close relationship with the Hayward family and he will miss Joanna dearly. Our deepest condolences to you as you grieve the loss of a very strong & special woman who was a "mom" to many. Nadine & Dave Trumbley - Posted by: Dave Trumbley (Friend) on: Mar 10, 2017

Joanna was always a fun loving, trouble seeking, wonderful classmate during our nurse's training at the "MISERY". Her joyous laughter could constantly heard throughout the halls in residence at all hours. I am SO proud to have been part of a mischievous group with her as the ringleader. I remember roaring around town with Joanna, at the wheel, with the top down, radio blasting at midnight!! We wrote our RN exams the next morning and amazingly we all passed.(some by the skin of our teeth).Thank you Joanna for the cherished memories and friendship. Love you always! - Posted by: Lorraine Parks (Nursing classmate) on: Mar 09, 2017

An angel who blessed us all with her incredible, never ending love, patience, guidance and supportive qualities. Kara and I were fast friends in the start of grade three. Joined at the hip. My mother worked alot and I spent a lot of time with Kara, Joanna and the boys. All the beautiful animals. They were my family. Many of my best childhood memories are of my time with the Haywards and I am forever grateful for that time in my life. Joanna my love, are and always will be an inspiration to those who were blessed enough to have you in their life...the thoughts and memories that we will all carry in our hearts. Kara, Derek, Ryan and Graeme...my love and strength to you and your families. I love you all and have you in my thoughts xo - Posted by: Kristen Poole (Friend) on: Mar 07, 2017
