ANNIE KAWKA Annie Kawka, 89, of Winnipeg, MB, formerly of Mears, MB, died peacefully on March 6, 2017 at Holy Family Nursing Home, in Winnipeg. Born April 1927, in Mears, MB, she is predeceased by her late husband of 54 years, John Kawka, of Winnipeg, MB. Annie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and homemaker living in Winnipeg. During her working life she worked in housekeeping at the Charter House Hotel and prior to that worked with John on the farm in Mears, MB. She and John enjoyed travelling the world during their retirement. She was also a tireless volunteer and active member of St. Nicholas Parish for many years. She is survived by her three children, Verne of Ottawa, Doreen (Bill) Selody of Prince George, BC, Janice (Randy Nanek) of Toronto; and grandchildren, Nicholas (Miranda Killam) of Ottawa, ON, Stefany (Brent Sills) of Cambridge, ON and Caelan Nanek of Toronto, ON; and great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Vivian of Ottawa. Service and burial will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB on Wednesday March 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. The immediate family and friends wish to extend sincere appreciation to the staff of Holy Family Nursing Home for the care and love to Annie during her stay. Verne and family, I was very sorry to hear that your Mom had passed. My heartfelt condolences are with you at this time.
