DAVID SCHMIDT Surrounded by his family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Schmidt, aged 88 years on March 6, 2017. He leaves to mourn his passing, wife of 68 years, Grace "The Love of His Life"; son David Randall (Kathleen) and daughter Barbara. He was survived by his many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. David worked for the City of Winnipeg Assessment Department, beginning at age 17 in 1946 as an office boy, and retired in 1984 as The City Assessor. His professional accomplishments included membership in The International Association of Assessing Officers. David was also an honorary life time member of The Manitoba Assessors Association. Our father and husband was a man of deep kindness and sensitivity. He lived the values of fairness and hard work. Dad believed in the importance of friendship and community. The family is grateful for the support and compassionate care Dad received from staff on the Third Floor at Concordia Place and from Home Care staff Jose and Steven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Concordia Place. A service for David will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Avenue at 1:00 p.m. on March 14, 2017. Pastor Bruce Gelhorn presiding. KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 HENDERSON HWY 204-338-0331 Condolences may be sent to www.klassenfuneralhome.com

I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to the Schmidt family. Dave was the office manager when I worked for the city in the 1960's. I've never worked for a nicer or kinder man. He always remained my all-time favourite boss. - Posted by: Dolores Chabluk (Friend) on: Mar 13, 2017
