HAZEL BEATRICE MANVEILER
Date of Passing: Mar 06, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAZEL BEATRICE MANVEILER (nee HOLLAND) In the afternoon of Monday, March 6, 2017, in her 89th year and surrounded by her family, Mom left us to once again be with Dad. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest, son Kerry, and her sisters Marjorie, Rose and Carol. She leaves to mourn her brother David, sisters June and Mamie, and her loving family, David (Pat), Bill (Madeleine), Maureen Rankin (Lyle) and Adam, and her grandchildren Carrie, Steve, Jon, Kelly, Michael, Karlee, Mitchel, and newest great-grandchild Jackson. Mom was born in Nottingham, England in 1927. It was here that she met and fell in love with Ernest, a Canadian soldier who was stationed in Nottingham before being shipped over to Europe. In 1945 they were married and in 1953 headed off to Canada. It took a very brave and courageous woman to leave her family in England and move across an Ocean to start a new life and raise her own family. In the beginning, life wasn't all that easy for Mom, but she was strong and persistent and determined to make it work. And so she did. She loved to knit and her grandchildren still cherish some of the work she created. She also loved to go camping and fishing, and being a great cheerleader when her children were playing sports. She wasn't just a quiet spectator as there was little doubt who she was cheering for. Mom spent her last few years at the Middlechurch Home where she received wonderful care. Our family would like to offer special thanks to Irena and Patti who showed great care and compassion in looking after Mom. Cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will take place at a later date. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 204-783-7211 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsonfuneralchapel.com

Deep rich eyes, pleasant smile, framed in the perfect hairdo is my neighourhood memory of Mrs. Manveiler. I remember how she, Mrs. Rosmas and my mom (Jean) would sit and have tea. These conversations were by women who endured the war, raised their children and still share and good laugh at the end of it all. When the Manveilers came to visit my mom in Grand Marais I knew the dancing would begin, and oh how they could dance. Mrs. Manveiler always made people feel important no matter how young or old. A very classy lady. Mrs. Manveiler is the last Mohican of Chalmers, and my family was blessed to have known her. - Posted by: Lizette Ptashnick (Gagnon) (Neighbour) on: Mar 12, 2017
