Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILJA SVANHVIT SIGRUN MANN May 4, 1922 - February 27, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce, Svanhvit Lilja Sigrun Mann (nee Holm), passed away peacefully at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Cameron George Mann; her father Sigurdur Danielson Holm, mother Sigridur Gudny Holm (nee Borgfjord); brothers Adolf, Gustaf Bernard, Arnold, Oswald and Daniel; sister-in-law Viola and her husband Bill Edgar. Lilja leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her beloved sister Helga Sigurdson; her children: Doug (Heather), Carol, Pamela, Craig (Willa) and Diane; grandchildren: Nicole, Vanessa, Makal, Jason, Jaime, Ami, Nicholas, and Kelsey; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close family friends. Lilja will also be missed by Richard Edghill (Diana), whom she loved like a son. She truly had an unconditional love for all her family. Lilja was born in the Lundar District on May 4, 1922. She lived in Lundar, Manitoba until 1940 when she travelled to the west coast. She spent time with her brother Arnold in Sechelt and also travelled to Victoria before heading back to Manitoba. She married Cameron Mann in Winnipeg in 1944, her soul mate and best friend since Grade 1. After numerous years of family camping trips, Lilja and Cameron purchased a cottage on beautiful Lake of the Woods. It quickly became the family gathering spot and it was where she was the happiest. She truly treasured many moments; whether it be sipping a cup of morning coffee in the sunshine corner, sitting on the deck taking in the view, watching the hummingbirds enjoying her feeders or relaxing on the beach with friends and family. Her passion for travel took her to many countries. Some of the most memorable trips were to Barbados and Iceland. Lilja and Cam spent winters in Arizona with Viola her dear sister-in-law and her husband Bill Edgar. Lilja always welcomed visits from family and friends. Lilja had many skills: she was an excellent baker and enjoyed baking sweets such as the traditional Icelandic vinarterta cake. She had amazing architectural design abilities and she was a phenomenal seamstress. Lilja loved working on her Icelandic, Scottish and Irish dolls with her sister Helga, never missing any detail. Lilja was proud of her Icelandic heritage and attended many Icelandic functions. Lilja was truly an elegant lady, a ray of sunshine and touched the hearts of all she met. Her beauty lit up the room and her smile was contagious. Her quick wit and classic one liners kept all those around her laughing and inspired. Until the last few months of her life she was in good health and lived life to the fullest. She will be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. We will always remember her love and beautiful smile. We are blessed that she touched so many lives. Lilja will always be in our thoughts, and forever in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jon Sigurdsson Chapter IODE or Zajac Ranch for Children. She walks with us down quiet paths And speaks in wind and rain For the magic of her memory Gives her back to us again -Love you forever...Until we meet again- NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
