Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD (HAL) WILLIAM WHITTAKER July 8, 1923 - March 12, 2017 A gentle heart stopped beating. It is with sad but joyous hearts we announce the passing of our dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, "gigi", brother, uncle and friend. His passing will leave a great void in our lives but we know Dad is once again with the love of his life. Dad joined the R.C.A.F. in November 1942 and re-joined C.P.R. after the war. Hal retired as a mill supervisor after 40 years. Hal was a long-time member of Immanuel United Church. Dad spent many hours coaching teams at Morse Place Community Club. He married Margaret Sheidow in 1946. She predeceased him in 2005 and he missed her every day. Hal is survived by daughter Jill (Kent), son Glenn (Joy); grandchildren Kirk (Cathy), Kelly (Pierre), Mark (Charlotte), Kate (Jordan) and Leah; great-grandchildren Madeleine, Nathan, Maya, McKenna, Karvor and Chanel; sister May Kletke; many nieces and nephews, many special lifelong friends, especially the skipbo gang. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Marg, young son Jackie, brother Jack, son-in-law Ken, and his parents Hilda and Harry. The family would like to express gratitude for the amazing care he received at Concordia Hospital, especially N1 North and Dr. Isaac. We will miss you terribly but are happy to know they are once again playing your song. "It had to be you." A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie Street. Interment to follow. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Immanuel United Church in Harold's memory. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. A wonderful man. While with Consumer Care Maids, I would care for his apartment. Enjoyed my twice monthly visits. Sorry to hear of his passing. - Posted by: Debbie Winterburn (Former houskeeper) on: Apr 09, 2017

I can remember Hal & my dad coaching at Morse Place, many decades ago, Hal was goal judging by standing behind the net. It was very cold but he chatted & coached throughout the whole game to take my mind off the cold & my frozen feet. He was always a gentleman & good friend to my parents. Irene passes her condolences along to Jill & Glenn & families as well. - Posted by: Doug McLaughlin (Friend) on: Mar 15, 2017
