Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) ZINYK July 31, 1933 - March 12, 2017 It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Zinyk. Bill passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital surrounded by his family on March 12, 2017 at the age of 83. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Anne; daughter Doris; son William (Sharon), and son Brian (Karen); brothers, Nick, Walter (Sue), Paul (Stefphie), and Zanny (Helen), and sister Helen, along with many grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his parents John and Katherine; sister Annie; son-in-law Barry; niece Wilma; and sister-in-law Nancy. Born in Medika, MB on July 31, 1933 to Katherine and John Zinyk, Bill spent several of his early years making his mark on Canada by helping build the Trans-Canada Highway, East of Falcon Lake. On February 19, 1955 in Elma MB., Bill married Anne, the love of his life for 62 years. A kind, generous, and loving man, Bill always greeted everyone with a bright smile. He was a strong, reliable, and loyal man with a warm heart and great sense of humor. He always maintained a calm demeanor and new how to get things done. A dedicated employee, Bill spent his entire career of 36 years with Winnipeg Hydro. In his spare time Bill loved to tinker around the yard and fix anything he could. He loved to fix old tube type televisions and radios for his community. A jack of all trades, Bill's motto was "If Dad can't fix it, then it's garbage". He spent many years tending to his hobby farm and gardening, and enjoyed picking blueberries and mushrooms. When he wasn't tinkering, you could find him on the water with a fishing rod in his hand. Affected by the Polio epidemic of 1953, Bill never let his affliction stop him from doing anything he wanted to do. His children would like to thank their Mother Anne for the loving care she provided over the years. In addition, the family would like to express our gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Seven Oaks Hospital, Misericordia Health Centre, and Victoria Hospital. "We love you Dad". Pallbearers will be Bill, Daryl, Justin, Michael, Daryl Jr., and Ryan. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home located at 4477 Main St. Winnipeg, MB. Viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Glen Eden Funeral Home (204) 338-7111
