Mom passed peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre on March 7, 2017. Wyn was predeceased by her parents, George and Margaret Witzell; husband Edward (Ted), 2007; son Kenneth, 2008 and daughter-in-law Linda, in 2016. She is survived by her two daughters, Kellie (Winnipeg) and Peggy (John) Chipman (Huntsville, Ontario). She is also remembered by her grandchildren, Johanna Chipman, Karen (Scott) Weir, David (Sonyia) Mayo and Robin Mayo Kobylak; as well as her great-grandchildren, Corey and Jessie Weir. Mom was born on September 3, 1922. Upon finishing High School, Mom was accepted into Nursing at St. Joseph's Hospital in Port Arthur, Ontario. Mom loved her career and was always proud to be a nurse. She began her nursing career as an Operating Room Nurse, retiring from her career at age 69 as a Geriatric Nurse. Mom volunteered with many different organizations during her lifetime such as: The Winnipeg Art Gallery; St. Mary's Academy's Mothers' Guild and was often a main planner of her Graduating Class of '44 reunions held every five years after their graduation. Mom served with the Manitoba Nurses Union in various positions until her retirement. She loved to read especially in the summer when she could go outside and sit happily on the patio or in the gazebo enjoying her books. Respecting Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial will occur later in the spring. Special thanks are extended to the special staff at AB2, Riverview Health Centre for their care and attention to Mom. But most of all you made her feel safe and secure. Thank you. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
