MARGARET STOBIE BROWN (nee PURVES) October 16, 1926 - March 16, 2017 Our precious mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margaret, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2017 at Tuxedo Villa Extendicare. Margaret was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. She immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada after the Second World War to marry our father, Joseph Brown - the love of her life. Margaret and Joe enjoyed a loving marriage in Charleswood with wonderful friends and neighbours. Mum was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph; her son, William (Bill) Gerald Brown; her parents, Walter and Margaret Purves (Edinburgh), two sisters and three brothers. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Marilyn Torrance (Alan), her son Roger Brown (Beneta), her grandchildren Jeff (Shayla), Megan (Dan), Courtney, Derek, and Kevin (Karyne), great-grandchildren Gemma, Kiera, and Aldwin; sister Phemie Haney (Edinburgh), daughter-in-law Lorna Brown, and many nieces, nephews and close friends, especially Norma Rocan. Our heartfelt thanks to Lindsay and the staff at Tuxedo Villa Extendicare for their compassionate care provided to our mother. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with remembrances at 7:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway.
