Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Joe, you are a mentor and a dear friend. You look after my children and my family since our arrival to Winnipeg in 1981. It is a major lost not only to the Chinese community but also to the city of Winnipeg. Your contribution to the city is beyond description by words. Bringing the Panda to Winnipeg, establishing sister City with Chengdu china and elevated City of Winnipeg to worldwide recognition are just some of your many accomplishments to our Province. I am pride to be your friend. I will miss a great companion for lunch and dinner. The most I miss will be your wisdom and constant guidance. Farewell my dear friend. I see you in heaven. Our condolence to the Du family. Ready to help the family in any way we can. - Posted by: Lily and Victor Mah (friend) on: Mar 24, 2017

  • My children were blessed to have Dr. Du as their pediatrician growing up. They are now ages 37, 34 and 33. He always made them laugh on visits and always made them feel better! Thank YOU for all your years of caring and helping us through serious illnesses and minor lumps and bumps. ~The Redmond Family~ - Posted by: Virginia Hill Redmond () on: Mar 22, 2017

  • Dear Michelle and family, my heart goes out to you all - I am so sad to hear this news. I have such terrific memories of our times together on Salme Drive and at your cottage. Your Dad - always kind, generous, welcoming and quick to share a laugh. Thinking of you all during this difficult time. - Posted by: Kelly McCallum (Gies) (Friend) on: Mar 21, 2017

  • Dr. Du was my pediatrician as a child. I'm in my fifties! He was also my children's pediatrician when they were little. My kids are in their late twenties now. I couldn't of asked for a better caring and experienced doctor. He was always available to see the kids and only a phone call away to answer any medical concern I had. One memory came to mind... About 50 years ago, in the late '60's during the time Doctor's made house calls. He was called to my childhood home to check on me. My parents had a medical concern regarding my health. My Mom to this day still reminds me how wonderful, compassionate and concerned Dr. Du was. Dr. Du stayed throughout the evening into the early morning with my parents to make sure I was going to be okay. This is the caring soul I remember. Thank you to Dr. Du's wife and family for lending us your husband and father. Thank you for doing without so he could care for us...his patients. A wonderful man, he will be missed. My sympathy to you all! - Posted by: Michelle Ollinik () on: Mar 21, 2017

  • I am sad. I am a volunteer at St. Boniface hospital and he was one of my favorite people. Such a nice gentle man. My sympathy to his family - Posted by: Margie Harris (Friend) on: Mar 21, 2017

  • He was the nicest man I have ever met. While working at the Children's Hospital and he saw me he would always say hello and give me a hug. He was such a generous man to all. He did great good in his lifetime and will be missed by so many. - Posted by: Lisa Hosein (worked at Children's Hospital) on: Mar 21, 2017
