GABRIELE DI NELLA After a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gabriele Di Nella on March 18, 2017. He will be missed by his loving wife Marina, of 48 years; children Fabrizio (Fil), Adriano (Brook) and Dario (Josette); and grandchildren Mila, Aria, Oscar and Marcus. Left to cherish Gabriele's memory are his siblings Ersilia Ranieri, Tony (Sylvia) and Mario (Cathy); and sister Marissa in Italy. In addition, Gabriele will be remembered by his sisters-in-law Maria and Silvana in Italy, Virginia (Gus) Pallone, Loretta (Guiliano) Scarpino and Ralph Aiello. Gabriele also leaves numerous nieces and nephews both in Canada and Italy, as well as several close friends. He was predeceased by his parents Tomasso and Amalia, brothers Guido and Franco, sister Maria, brother-in-law Rocco Ranieri, and sister-in-law Fiorina Aiello. Gabriele was born in Mozzagrogna, Italy on July 15, 1941 and followed his family to Canada in 1964. Gabriele's happiest moments were spent with his grandchildren, gardening, hunting and tinkering around the house. Gabriele was a "jack of all trades" and was able to fix almost anything. His family has wonderful memories of road trips together, hunting and visiting with family. Condolences will be shared on Friday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a mass at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue. Entombment will follow at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street. Pallbearers will be Joe and Nick Ranieri, Rob and Jeff Di Nella, Tony Aiello and Carmine Scarpino. We would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Buhler Cancer Centre at Victoria Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit. A special thanks to the home care nurse Kelly and worker Rosie. Their caring and compassionate care has made this painful road much easier. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation Oncology Department, CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot, or the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.
